City of Wolverhampton’s unemployed residents are being given the chance to dress for success in their search for work.

Access to Business, supported by City of Wolverhampton Council, is holding a sale of work clothing and casual wear, costume jewellery and accessories, to help people get ready for interviews or training.

It will take place at the Alan Garner Centre, Old Hall Street, Wolverhampton, WV1 3AU, on Friday, August 18, from 10.30am to 1pm or until stock runs out.

Prices for clothing will range from just 50 pence up to a maximum of £5 per item.

Admission is free but only with a signed voucher that can be obtained from Wolverhampton Jobcentre Advisors or from local Training Providers, including Access to Business, Tempest Street, Wolverhampton, WV2 1AA.

Access to Business is also calling for people to make donations of clothing at any of the collection points at City of Wolverhampton’s libraries.

Josie Kelly, Access to Business CEO, said: “The Dress for Success sale is the first event of its kind in Wolverhampton and we have some wonderful items of clothing and accessories available.

“We are hoping to make this a regular event but this will depend on the demand at this one.

“Any unsold items will be donated to local charities.”

Councillor John Reynolds, Cabinet Member for City Economy, added: “This is a fantastic initiative to help city residents who might otherwise struggle to afford clothing for interviews.

“It could mean the difference between someone getting a job or not.”
