The drive to recruit more foster carers for Walsall children continues as ‘You Could Foster’ messages are featured on council vehicles.

Councillor Aftab Nawaz, Portfolio Holder for Children’s Services and Fostering Team Manager Mike Gregory took a trip to the Pelsall Road Environmental Depot to see the branded vans up close.

Councillor Nawaz said:

“The eye-catching branding is featured on thirty vehicles and is yet another innovative way for us to spread the message that we need more people to foster Walsall children. The Council fleet of vehicles travels the length and breadth of the borough so this is a great way to amplify that message.”

“Recruiting more foster carers remains a top priority for Walsall Council.  Our foster carers are highly valued and are vitally important to the future of our children and young people in Walsall. I would encourage anyone who is interested in fostering to contact the team.”

“An excellent package of support, including improved fees and allowances, and training are all in place to make fostering with Walsall Council a rewarding career option.”

Mike Gregory, Manager of the Fostering Recruitment & Assessment Team, said:

“Walsall foster carers do a fantastic job looking after our young people and keeping them safe and we are always exploring new ways to recruit more carers.  We have a year-round recruitment drive to encourage more people to come forward to become foster carers; keeping children together with their siblings, maintaining important links with their family, friends and schools.”

Phillip Dutton, Fleet Services Manager added:

“We are really pleased to be involved in the initiative. Working together with the Fostering Team in this creative way is helping to get the ‘You Could Foster’ message right into the heart of communities, businesses and residential areas in Walsall on a daily basis.”

Advertising on vehicles in the Council fleet is just part of the continuing campaign to recruit an additional 25 new foster carers for Walsall Council during the next year.
