Nominations are now open for the Mayor’s Community and Excellence Awards, which show the borough’s gratitude to our very own ‘local heroes’.
The forthcoming event has changed from last year in order to honour people in the workplace, as well as members of the community who have gone that extra mile to help others.
Mayor of Walsall, Councillor Marco Longhi said:
“If you know of a colleague, neighbour, friend or family member deserving of being presented with an award by the Mayor, do please get in touch – I’d love to hear from you.”
“I am asking local employers within the borough of Walsall to nominate members of staff, both paid and volunteers in their workplace, who are deserving of an award.”
“I also need you to tell me about people in your community who have achieved great things or have gone above and beyond what is expected of them to make things happen. These outstanding individuals can be any age and from any walk of life. Perhaps they are a child or adult who has displayed remarkable courage, a local champion who has improved your area, a tireless charity fundraiser, a campaigner, a dedicated care worker or someone who has gone that extra mile to help others.”
The event will be held at Walsall Town Hall on Friday 20 April 2018 and will be a celebration of our local heroes. The evening will consist of a three course meal, musical entertainment as well as a magician.
If you would like to nominate a person for an award, please download and complete a nomination form. Forms can also be picked up from leisure centres, libraries and the Council House in Walsall. The closing date for receipt of completed nominations is Monday 8 January 2018.
All nominations will be considered by an independent judging panel and the finalists will be invited to attend the awards ceremony along with the person who nominated them.
