R&B and pop singer Seal has announced his comeback, with a jazz and swing covers album titled Standards.

The Kiss From A Rose star will release his 10th studio album in a homage to jazz legends like Ella Fitzgerald and Frank Sinatra.

“This is the album I have always wanted to make,” he said.

“I grew up listening to music from the Rat Pack era, so recording these timeless tunes was a lifelong dream.”

To produce the album, the British singer worked with musicians who performed with the likes of Fitzgerald and Ray Charles.

He recorded it at Capitol Studios – home of the Rat Pack and Nat King Cole – and United Studios, where Sinatra made his name.

“It was a true honour to collaborate with the same musicians who performed with Frank Sinatra and so many of my favourite artists,” he added.

“In the very same studios where the magic was first made – it was one of the greatest days of my recording career.”

Similar to fellow singer Robbie Williams, who moved from pop to jazz at the turn of the century, Seal’s new album will include classics like Luck Be A Lady, I’ve Got You Under My Skin and It Was A Very Good Year.

He has also worked on renditions of Fitzgerald’s I’m Beginning to See The Light and Simone’s I Put A Spell On You, among others.
