Taylor Swift’s bodyguard ‘saw DJ’s hand under skirt’, court hears

Taylor Swift’s former bodyguard has told a jury he witnessed a DJ putting his hand up the star’s skirt.

Greg Dent, the latest witness in the hearing over lawsuits between Swift and former DJ David Mueller, said in his testimony: “I saw his hand under her skirt… Her skirt went up… She jumped.”

The pop star is accusing Mueller, 55, of groping her and staying “latched onto my bare ass cheek”.

The alleged incident happened in 2013 as the singer posed for a photograph with the DJ and his girlfriend during a meet-and-greet session with fans before a concert.

Mr Dent, a former police officer who has also worked for the National Security Agency, said he took his cues from the pop star and that she continued the session with fans, so he did not immediately intervene.

When she finished meeting fans, Swift told her staff she had been groped, he said.

Mr Dent said he was “definitely sure” Mueller had been drinking: “I don’t know what level… He wasn’t staggering or falling down.”

The country and western DJ is suing Swift for at least $3m (£2.3m) in order to clear his name and recover lost earnings.

Swift is counter-suing Mueller for a symbolic $1 (77p) in compensation, and says she wants it to serve as an example to women who have been assaulted.

The 27-year-old, famous for hits such as Bad Blood and Shake It Off, gave her account in court on Thursday.

“It was a definite grab… a very long grab,” she said. “It was intentional. He stayed latched onto my bare ass cheek.”

Swift’s account was backed by testimony from others including her photographer, Stephanie Simbeck, who on Thursday said she recalled seeing Mueller “put his hand on (Swift’s) butt”.

Mueller gave evidence on Tuesday to say he may have made innocent physical contact with Swift, but insisted he did not grope her.

Asked if he grabbed her backside, he replied: “No, I did not.”
