Kicking off the first concert at 6pm on Saturday 8 September will be ‘The People’s Orchestra’, a team of skilled musicians based in and around West Bromwich. The orchestra was recently cited as ‘one of the top five best and most inspirational amateur orchestras’ by the BBC.
The People’s Orchestra showcase some of the all-time best Hollywood blockbuster soundtracks in a spectacular film-music celebration perfect for movie fans of all ages. Highlights include: Back to the Future, Star Trek, Harry Potter, Jurassic Park, Incredibles, Pirates of the Caribbean and new for New for 2018, a special celebration of the music from the huge cinematic hit The Greatest Showman.
The Visitor Centre café will be providing a barbecue with gourmet burgers and sausages, hot and cold drinks and a licensed bar to help the audience celebrate the end of the Arboretum’s Bandstand Summer Programme.

“The Arboretum team has done a great job putting together such a busy and varied Summer programme – there really has been something for everyone.”
“This free concert is sure to draw people of all ages into our premier park and I’m sure it will be very atmospheric as the sun goes down, with the lighting in and around the bandstand, terraces and brook.”
Music fans are welcome to bring along their own cushions, picnic blankets or folding chairs, although some folding chairs will be available on a first come first served basis. There are grassed areas for picnic blankets and folding chairs can be used on the bandstand terraces as well as around the stage area. The event starts at 6pm and finishes at 8pm.
