A man has been arrested by detectives investigating the killing of a Spanish-Colombian man who was stabbed to death in east London.
The suspect, 18, was held on Thursday on suspicion of murdering 26-year-old David Steven Martinez-Valencia, Scotland Yard said.
“At this stage it is understood the victim and suspect were known to each other. The incident is not thought to be gang-related,” the Metropolitan Police said in a statement.
The Spanish-Colombian is believed to have been fatally stabbed in a home in Leyton, east London, on Wednesday.
Officers think he left the scene before collapsing in the street nearby.
Police, paramedics and an air ambulance were called to North Birkbeck Road at around 4.30pm, but Mr Martinez-Valencia died 40 minutes later.
His next of kin have been informed.
Investigators have yet to confirm the cause of death. A post-mortem examination began on Thursday.
At least 39 people have been stabbed to death across the UK so far this year amid a surge in violence.
