A manhunt is under way after a man was killed in a stabbing in Fulham, southwest London.
Officers were called to reports of a fight on Gowan Avenue, at its junction with Munster Road, at 12.27am on Saturday.
The victim, believed to be 29, was found suffering from stab wounds.
He was tended to by members of the public before paramedics and police arrived, but was pronounced dead at the scene just before 1am.
The victim reportedly lived with his mum just doors away from where he was stabbed.
A local resident who says he knew the 29-year-old described him as “a good guy, not the sort to do silly things and get involved with trouble”.
A neighbour on the quiet residential road described how he heard “loud voices and lots of shouting” close to his home.
There have been no arrests but the Met released a description of the man they are looking for.
Det Chief Insp Glen Lloyd, who is leading the investigation, said: “This murder investigation continues apace. Police work at the crime scene is ongoing. Active enquiries are in hand.
“We are appealing for information from those who were out and about in the area at the time of the attack and saw anything of note.
“My team is particularly keen to trace a light skinned black male, approximately 6ft tall who was seen near the scene at the time of the incident.
“Did you see him? Do you know who he is? Anyone with information on his identity or whereabouts is urged to contact police.”
The Met Police said the victim’s next of kin have been informed and that the Homicide and Major Crime Command had been notified.
The local MP Greg Hands said on Twitter: “Shocked at last night’s fatal stabbing in Fulham, at junction of Munster Road & Gowan Avenue. Thoughts with the victim’s family. Am seeking more information from the police.”
Conservative mayoral candidate and London Assembly member Shaun Bailey said: “Another day, another tragic death due to knife crime. We have got to stop the killing and punish these killers.”
Gowan Avenue is the street in which Jill Dando was shot dead in 1999.
