The family of a mother who was stabbed to death in a street in Surrey have described her as “caring” with a “wonderful heart”.
Aliny Mendes, 39, was killed in broad daylight by a man who got out of a vehicle in London Road, Ewell, on Friday afternoon.
Mr Mendes’ sister, who has not been named, issued a statement on behalf of the family.
She said: “My sister was lovely, always thinking about everyone but mostly her children.
“She had a wonderful heart and there was no one else like her. She was a caring sister and worried about everyone.
“She was always making sure everyone was OK. She tried to help everyone where she could.
“She loved to cook and would organise surprise parties for friends and family, giving cakes and presents, and she was loved by everyone.
“Everything she did was for the love for her children.”
Two men were arrested in connection with Ms Mendes’ death on Friday, shortly after the incident at the junction of Sparrow Farm Road and London Road.
A man in his 40s from Epsom, Surrey was arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody.
A man in his 50s from London, who was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, has been released without charge.
Detective Chief Inspector Mark Chapman described Ms Mendes’ death as a “tragic incident”.
He added: “The incident took place during the day and is likely to have a traumatic effect on the people who witnessed the incident and the subsequent police activity.”
Ms Mendes’ children are being provided with “support and immediate care”, he said.
