Two people have been arrested after a woman was stabbed to death by a man who got out of a vehicle in Surrey.
Surrey Police were called to London Road, Ewell, at 3pm on Friday following a report that a woman in her 30s had been stabbed.
A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder while a second man has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. These arrests did not happen at the scene.
Chief Inspector Michael Hodder said: “This was a tragic and shocking incident in which a woman has lost her life after being attacked in broad daylight.
“Our thoughts are with her friends and family at this time.
“At this stage we believe the victim and suspect are known to each other. We realise there will be a number of questions about what has happened which we will try to answer when we can and would ask the public not to speculate.”
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson confirmed an air ambulance was sent to the scene.
They added: “Sadly, despite the efforts of medics, a person died at the scene.”
:: Witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage should call police on 101 quoting reference number PR/P19030779.
