More than 700 movie lovers took to social media and online last year to cast their votes, with Top Gun and Labyrinth coming out top from a shortlist of films they would most like to see on a big screen in the great outdoors.
As a result of last year’s success, the film selection is again being put out to a public vote, from a shortlist of approved movies. This summer’s Outdoor Cinema takes place on Saturday August 10 and will again include one movie at 9pm, followed by a midnight movie.
Choices for the 9pm show are:
- The Greatest Showman
- Bohemian Rhapsody
- Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again
- The Wedding Singer
- A Star is Born
Choices for the midnight movie are:
- The Shining
- Blade Runner
- The Blair Witch Project
The Outdoor Cinema and audience poll is again being organised by Tamworth Borough Council’s Arts and Events team as part of the 2019 programme of events.
Votes can be cast via the Tamworth Arts and Events Facebook page or online via
www.tamworthartsandevents.co.uk/outdoor-cinema. Voting details will also be sent via email to subscribers of Tamworth Arts and Events news. To join the mailing list subscribe here: www.tamworthartsandevents.co.uk/connect-us
Cllr John Chesworth, Cabinet member for Culture and Operational Services, said: “This will be the seventh year for the Outdoor Cinema and it’s just growing in popularity all the time, enjoyed by sell-out crowds each year.
“People are invited to get involved in the decision-making process and join the public vote again. Tickets will be on sale soon after the results are in, so I’d encourage anyone who would enjoy watching classic movies on a giant screen under the stars, to keep an eye out for details.”
Polls will be open from February 7 and votes can be cast until February 13, just in time for the tickets to go on sale from Valentine’s Day.
The Outdoor Cinema is just one element of a packed programme of outdoor events that has been confirmed for 2019. The full outdoor events programme is available on www.tamworth.gov.uk/news
